linguistic services

A MT post-editor realising that QA shows 345 (probably false) positives to fix.
The creative skills 😍
Marketing translation
Comprehensive adaptation of a text for a target audience. Requires creativity and carefulness in terms of cultural differences from the linguist.
Copyediting
The process of altering marketing content based on instructions, reference materials, examples, and templates prepared by the client, e.g. editing a text, so that it contains keywords provided by the client.
Transcreation
Closely related to marketing translation, this process requires an even more complex and creative adaptation in terms of culture. The business/marketing impact takes absolute precedence over the literacy of the translation.
The traditional TEP 🤓
Translation
Rendering a text from one language into another in a way that takes into consideration potential differences between the cultures of source and target text audiences.
Reviewing/editing
Checking/improving quality of the translation/flow and quality of writing/correctness of the target text against the source file.
Proofreading
Examining a text and looking for spelling, grammar, syntax and punctuation errors, typos and other unintended mistakes, as well as vocabulary and tone of voice issues throughout the text. It is not necessary to compare the target text against the source.
The "modern" skills 🤖
Post-editing
Rewriting/editing of a machine pre-translated written text.
Linguistic quality controls (LQA)
Reviewing and/or proofreading of post-editor job to ensure the required quality standard are reached + reporting of errors with specific and/or general feedback.
